Eiffel Tower

Europe

Unbelievably enough the famous Eiffel Tower was not very popular with the Parisians when it was first built and unveiled for the World Exposition of 1889. Since then it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Paris . One does not visit Paris without going to see the Eiffel Tower.

If you are able to climb the Eiffel Tower by stairs then it is definitely worth doing. One gets a real sense of achievement when you reach the top. You can climb to the second level by stairs which is 1,652 stairs and if you want to get to the very top of the tower then there is an elevator on the second floor which will take you there. There is a first elevator which can take you to the second level if you are unable or don’t particularly want to climb all those stairs.

You can see wonderful views of the romantic city from each level but of course the most breathtaking are from the top level. The Eiffel Tower also looks pretty impressive from ground level from different spots all around the city, especially at night when it is quite magnificent when it is illuminated.
If you make it to the top floor there is a lovely restaurant there but if you prefer you also have a choice of eateries on all the other levels too.

Weather-wise visiting the Eiffel Tower between March and October is recommended but the queues are long so try to go early in the morning, late in the evening and on a weekday. Between October and March there will be considerably less visitors but the weather will also be considerably more miserable.
Any practical information about opening hours can be found on the official website of the Eiffel Tower. You can also find out admission fees there and also about special events which may be going on at various times of the year.
