Llandudno is north Wales premier coastal resort attracting thousands of visitors each year due to its beautiful location and excellent activities. There’s so much to see and do in the town that many visitors come back year after year.
The Great Orme
The Great Orme is Llandudno’s most famous landmark and provides a beautiful backdrop for the town itself. There are some excellent activities on the Great Orme including the Great Orme Copper Mines, and the Great Orme Visitor Centre. Whilst not too high the walk can be quite steep in places so many visitors decide to take advantage of either the The Great Orme Tram or the Great Orme Cable Car to reach the summit. Both offer an excellent attraction and wonderful views on the way.
Llandudno has two beaches, known as ‘the North Shore’ and ‘the West Shore’ and each is equally attractive to visitors. The North Shore is the more popular and is located close to the town centre. It has a long curving promenade that is lined with Victorian hotels and ends at the foot of the Great Orme and Llandudno Pier. The North Shore can get quite busy in the summer months which is why some people prefer the towns West Shore. The West Shore is located a short distance away from the town centre and it takes around 15 minutes to walk there from the main part of the town. Due to its location it is quieter than the North Shore and is not as sheltered so is popular with wind surfers.
Llandudno Pier is one of the longest in Wales and juts magnificently out towards the Irish Sea from the promenade. The pier is lined with small kiosks and the views from the end are terrific. There’s lots of things to do on the pier for children with plenty of fairground rides and amusements.
Venue Cymru is Llandudno’s theatre and the largest entertainment venue in north Wales. The theatre regularly plays host to top entertainment acts and is busy throughout the year.
Llandudno Swimming Pool
If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids should the weather turn a bit then Llandudno Swimming Pool is the ideal venue. The swimming pool is located close to the town centre and promenade and was recently rebuilt to a very high standard.
Another great activity whether its for the kids or the adults is Llandudno’s ten pin bowling alley. It’s located close to the town centre on the Mostyn Champneys retail park and offers a fully licensed bar.
Llandudno is also home to north Wales largest multiplex cinema. It is located about 5 miles from the town centre in nearby Llandudno Junction. Buses and taxis regularly run to the cinema and the train station is located just a few minutes walk away.
